It depends on where water enters and how the foundation is divided. Many recurring groundwater problems need continuous coverage along all affected walls; a genuinely isolated leak may need less.
Most under-slab perimeter systems require a narrow section of concrete to be removed and replaced. Above-slab channels use less demolition but are not appropriate for every water condition.
